After costume designing for local community theater in Northern California, he began studying at UCLA focusing on design and production emphasizing in costume design for theater, film, and television. Lyle has a BA from UCLA where he worked with designers and mentors like Amy Higdon, Chrisi Karvonides-Dushenko, Jane Ruhn, Shoshanna Rubin, Deborah Nadoolman Landis, and Paul Girard.
As a costume designer Marley works to create an open environment with the cast and crew to create designs that work for the overall story. Through collaboration, explorations, and adaptation Marley creates designs that reflect the mood, genre, and characters of his projects.
